Intensive Care Unit

In 2009, Minden Medical Center expanded upward with the construction of an additional 5th floor – 9,480 square feet on top of the existing front tower where Rehab and the Women’s Center are located. The new floor houses 12 ICU beds and cost a total of $5 million. It includes two isolation rooms and new bedside monitoring systems equipped with sepsis modules.

When your loved one is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Minden Medical Center, the staff understands how overwhelming and stressful it can be. Sometimes a patient’s stay in the ICU is planned; sometimes it is quite unexpected. Whatever condition or event, ICU patients all require intensive treatment, monitoring and support that is only available in an ICU setting.

MMC also understands how much you want to be there for your loved one. You are an important member of the ICU team and can help in your loved one’s recovery just by visiting them. Sometimes, visiting a loved one who is critically ill is not easy. Members of the ICU staff recognize your contribution to the team and the importance of your visits to the patient’s well-being. Visiting hours play an integral role in an ICU for both patients and health care providers.

ICU visitation hours are as follows:

  • 6:00am – 8:00am
  • 12:00pm – 2:00pm
  • 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Each patient is allowed up to 3 visitors (must be over the age of 10) at a time. This will enable your loved one to obtain adequate rest and help with their recovery time. The set times will also allow the staff to ensure your loved one is “always very satisfied” with their care and that their need for rest and privacy is respected.
